about

My good friend Liba (Barry) Shlanger used to visit me and we would talk for many hours about spiritual things. She would always challenge my new found faith and cause me to think deeper and sharper. One of the main contentions that she had was the Shoa and the destruction of so much innocent life. She wrote the lyrics to this song which I added the music to. One of the few collaborations I have ever done.

lyrics

One million lights with eyes that stare
And challenge the darkness of the night
One million flames with souls on fire
That are burning so bright
Faces come out of the shadows and whisper
Songs of yesterday
Painting pictures of playgrounds and rivers
They used to walk by the way
Children the of the light
Children of the night

We gather here to call you to these candles
To draw you to the light
Of our souls in flight
Look into the mirror of the children’s eyes
Who defy the darkness of the night
One million lights that have gone through the fire
And still continue to burn
Standing by the window illuminate the night
Let all come in who would like to learn
From the children of the light
The children of the night
